Toughened glass is approx 700% stronger than horticultural glass so it is far harder to break. When it does break, it disintegrates into hundreds of tiny pieces, so it is far safer than horticultural glass ( which can form dangerous daggers of glass when broken)

However, the main reason that the toughened glass is now so popular is that it is supplied in large sheets- so each side and roof panel is just one pane- This means that there are no overlaps between the panes (with normal horticultural glass, you get a 10mm overlap between every pane, these fill up with dirt and algae and become unsightly) With large pane toughened glass, you get a greenhouse that looks far neater, is easier to keep clean, and of course is safer.

This is a set of full length PVC strips which hold the glass along the full length. This gives a far neater finish plus it is a lot easier to keep clean because the clips are no longer used. Your whole greenhouse is stronger in the wind when bar capping is used. The capping is a similar shape to the stainless steel clip and it clips in,in a similar way- the difference being that the PVC is the full length e.g. 5' long). You can only use bar capping with the whole sheet toughened glass (because it won't go over overlaps).

Your new greenhouse is designed to give you enjoyment for many years. For piece of mind, all our greenhouses have a free 10-year frame guarantee. This valuable guarantee against any manufacturing faults also extends to your choice of metal base and powdercoated coloured finish.

Exclusions include moving parts, glazing, wind and accidental damage.

Experienced gardeners know that a Red Cedar Greenhouse is a great choice for their plants and their gardens. A cedar greenhouse is often the choice of the discerning gardener. The Western Red Cedar that we use for our greenhouses is grown on the Western Sea Board of North America. It has long been used in inclement climates in the construction and garden

industries due to its longevity (the timber contains natural preservatives), stability (it does not easily warp or bend being straight grained) and strength. All our cedar is sourced from certified or sustainable forests.

Cedar greenhouses tend to be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer making for a better growing environment than the aluminium greenhouses. Wooden greenhouses have recognizable practical advantages over aluminium greenhouses - for example it is easy to fix hooks, screws and wires to the greenhouse framework for training plants. The smell of a wooden greenhouse is a deterrent to pests and the oily properties of cedar in particular help in reducing the occurrence of plant disease within the greenhouse. The cedar silvers down over time to a silvery grey patina as the greenhouse blends in with the surrounding garden.

Glass

Toughened safety glass is the glazing material of choice for the best quality in use and assembly. We fit Toughened safety glass as standard in all our greenhouses. The glass panels we use are full panes ensuring no ugly overlapping panes of the glass.

Fixings

We only use a combination of solid brass and stainless steel in the construction of our cedar greenhouses due to their resistance to corrosion by the timber itself and extreme weather conditions. The door runner is manufactured from green powder coated aluminium as are the high capacity gutters and down pipes. The down pipes we use are 40mm diameter making them compatible with standard rainwater fittings enabling you to easily harvest rainwater into your water butts.
