These super new cold frames are ideal to run along the outside of your greenhouse.
Cold frames are ideal for 'hardening off' plants in the spring to avoid them being knocked back (where they just stop growing for a month) by the sudden change from a warm greenhouse to outside.At first put the tender plants in with the lids closed, then after a few days open the lids to one of the two preset opening positions, then when the plants are used to that, slide off the lids completely so that the cold frame is just providing wind shelter.Finally- plant the hardened off plants in your garden.
Of course you can also use a cold frame to bring on salad plants etc in the winter or use them to protect plants form some pests.
Choice of 4' or 6' model (1340mm or 1960mm long) by 640mm
deep and the back height is 530mm.
Q. Are the frames of the the old cottage green and the silver simplicity cold frames both made of aluminium?
A. Hello, yes they are aluminium the green is just a powder coated finish to give it the colour.

This is a very attractive cold frame which blends in well with its surroundings. Construction is solid and the design offers plenty of space. Do bear in mind that the cold frame arrives as a box of aluminium struts and a wooden packing case of glass panels. The instructions are clear but it really is advisable to spend time familiarising yourself with the method of construction and sorting the various parts into categories. The glazing bars presented me with something of a challenge until I realised that they actually click into place with a bit of pressure from a screwdriver, or similar.

Very well made and precise fit. Good clear instructions which made it straightforward to assemble. Requires some DIY ability to put together.Delivered as two packages on different days, frame bits in one and second one glass packed in wooded box. Very pleased with quality and will look for greenhouse next.
