I have been using kettle BBQ's for many years and have been happy with the results I was able to achieve but using a kamado to cook on takes the BBQ experience to a whole new level. They are expensive but they allow you explore methods and techniques of cooking that I wouldn't have been able to do on the kettle, I was also pleasantly surprised at how little charcoal they use. Since this is my first kamado I can't comment on the relative merits of the different manufacturers but I was very happy with the quality and the number of accessories that came as standard with the Kamado Joe. I was also very happy with the buying experience from The Greenhouse People.

Very happy with the purchase. The Alto is very well designed - the quality was evident during the assembly of the oven. The grill comes in two well packaged boxes. The base is manageable but the oven really requires two people to move it (although if you remove the doors and all the firebrick one person could manage). Delivery from Greenhouse People was next day. First use completed and very satisfied. The meat was all cooked to perfection ! The oven holds its heat very well - I shut down the oven after cooking at 150C - one hour later it was 130C - after 2 hours 105C - very impressive ! Pics below - first of many to be sure ! A side note - I ordered the tool set, pizza peel, cover and gloves as well. My Alto came with a free cover, so that wasn't needed. All the accessories are well built, and I think worth the money.

Brilliant piece of gear! Highly recommended. I've used it for "low 'n slow" as well as searing steaks and everything comes out juicier and tastier.

This is the best and simplest of gardening tools. Since buying one for myself I have bought everyone I know one. It is perfect for removing difficult weeds without disturbing other plants, breking op crusty soil around plants, weeding between cracks and a thousand and one other things. Buy one, you will not regret it!
